Make your own Frappuccino in seconds – healthy, allergy-friendly, vegan and easy on your budget!

June 30, 2015 By Nora 2 Comments

I think there’s nothing more relaxing than taking a couple of minutes to enjoy my favorite cold coffee drink on a lazy summer afternoon. Thanks to cold brewed coffee I can have my afternoon coffe and my night’s sleep, too.
Why ever would you go to a pricey café and spend a lot of money on something you can make in your own kitchen in seconds? This is a good one not only for your wallet but also your health: store-bought summer coffee drinks are usually loaded with sugar and fats of the worst kind.
All you’ll need is a few ingredients and a blender.

Ingredients for one cup:
1/4 cup cold brewed coffee
1/2 cup plant milk
1 teaspoon cocoa powder
1-2 drops of mint or orange extract
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
sweetener of your choice (I use a pinch of stewia powder or 1-2 teaspoons of xylitol)
a handful of ice cubes

You can customize this drink any way you like. I prefer almond milk but you can choose e.g. rice milk for a nut-free option. Try it with or without cocoa powder, any extracts and flavorings you like. My favorite combo is cocoa-mint extract.

Whizz it all in seconds:

  1. Pour coffee, milk and sweetener in your blender. Mix cocoa powder with fluids using a spoon or you might end up scraping it off the sides. Add any extract as the last ingredient.
  2. Fill you glass of choice with ice cubes, put ice cubes into blender. Mix until smooth.
  3. Pour in your favorite glass & enjoy!

I prefer almond- or soy milk for a lowcarb version: only 3g CH/cup like this! You can always have rice milk for a nut-free option of coconut milk for a more exotic taste.
Be prepared: you’ll want a cup like this every afternoon. The best part is you no longer have to feel sorry for your health or wallet. So go ahead and try this “recipe” right away! 🙂

Yum, I sure could use some right now 🙂 That last shot makes it look so chilled and refreshing. And I agree on saving the money… homemade is better anyhow!
